History of Vandiver Church of God

The church was built in 1944 and 1945.  The church started out as a "Pentacostal Holiness Church" and then changed to "Church of God" in 1947.  The land was donated by Auston and Nonnie Whitfield.  Services were held in members homes until the church was completed in 1945.

The church was heated with a woodburning drum.  The lights were kerosene lamps and the air conditioning was from raising the windows.

In 1975 Allene Howard donated land for a new parsonage.
